Local Mission Opportunities

PCOS provides many Local Mission opportunities for its members- all ages. Listed below are ways you can help. If you need more information, please email Pastor Bo Burgener or call 913-681-8180 ext. 33.

PCOS Blood Drives for 2011- Help Save a Life!
Please consider donating- you can sign up at the Welcome Center or online, www.savealifenow.org click "schedule and appointment" and enter stanleypres as the code.
Dates for 2012: 4/10, 7/31, and 11/27. Appointments begin at 12:30-6pm.

Serving Saturdays are an opportunity for groups and families to serve in the community- always on Saturday. Plan to meet PCOS at 9am and carpool to our location, then usually return between 2-3pm. Please email Sheryl in the office if you want to volunteer or call 913-681-8180 ext. 11. Jan. 28 at Cross-Lines thrift Store (628 S. Pyle, KCKS); sorting, organizing and pricing items for store. Website
Mar. 24 at Cross-lines; working in the community garden, bring work gloves and clothes that can dirty.
Apr. 28 at GUCM (80 Benton Blvd., KC. Mo); Pre-prepare a meal for 100 to be served Sunday. Website
May 19 at Heartland Presbyterian Camp (16965 MO hwy 45); working outdoors clearing trails, landscaping and much more! Website

Ongoing Collections for Grace United Community Minsitries (GUCM) and Johnson County Family Lodge. Donations can be left at the church and we could use help delivering donations, contact Jane Borcherding.

GUCM Needs: gently used clothing for children and men, paper products, after school snacks, new socks and underwear for all ages.
JOCO Needs: cleaning supplies, peanut butter, breakfast cereal, canned food items.

Located on 8th and Benton in Kansas City, Grace works to help the families around them through offering assistance with food, clothing, addiction counseling, education, Sunday worship, and among many other needs they address, children’s after-school and summer programs. Website

A Christ-centered maternity ministry that helps women choose life for their babies and themselves. They provide physical, emotional and spiritual support for young mothers. Website

Serving Prisoners & Their Families:
Angel Tree
This ministry reaches out to children of inmates and their families with the love of Christ. It seeks to transform the lives of these families and to reconcile them to their Heavenly Father and each other.  Website

Denomination/Re-investment Organizations: 
Heartland Presbyterian Center
In response to the Good News of Jesus Christ, HPC provides hospitality and programming in a natural setting for individuals, families, churches and the community.  Website

Holistic Help Organizations:
Heartland Habitat for Humanity
A nonprofit, Ecumenical Christian housing ministry, dedicated to eliminating substandard housing and homelessness worldwide. They work to provide adequate, affordable shelter and to date have renovated over 200,000 homes.  Website

Cross Lines Cooperative
Over the past forty-four years, this community outreach has been supported by a network of businesses, churches and individuals. They have provided a daily source of assistance for at-risk families, the elderly and single individuals.  Website
